Before You Go
Before your trip, remember to pack essential items like your passport and travel documents in your carry -on luggage. Include accessories such as chargers and toiletries for convenience. A well-organized bag can make your journey smoother, so double-check your list!
01
First Things First
Notify your credit card company of your travel plans to prevent potential account restrictions. Additionally, consult your mobile provider regarding coverage and possible roaming charges at your destination. Enabling airplane mode while at sea or whenever you are not on Wi-Fi can help avoid unexpected fees.
02
Essentials To Bring
-
Passport, visas, and any required entry documents
-
Boarding passes and cruise line materials (e.g., medallions, wristbands)
-
Driver’s license or other valid photo ID
-
Credit card (often required at check-in)
-
Cash for small purchases and gratuities. Having some local currency is also a good idea.
-
Travel vouchers for hotels, transportation, tours, or car rentals
-
Insurance card or Travel Insurance Policy (download the Allyz app if you have Allianz insurance)
-
Any travel documents/paperwork that I have sent to you
03
Personal Health Items
-
Prescription medications (enough for the duration of the trip plus 2-4 days more in their original containers). Please note that some prescription medications are not legal in other countries- such as medical marijuana/CBD and certain ADHD meds along with controlled pain meds. Speak with your care provider prior to travel. If your medication affects the central nervous system (pain, anxiety, ADHD, or sleep), it’s worth double-checking before you travel.
-
Headache/pain relief medicine or other over the counter medicines you may want.
-
Band-Aids and other first aid items (Dramamine or Bonine if concerned about motion sickness)
I also like to bring cold medicine, probiotics, stomach meds (Tums/Pepto) and allergy meds in addition to a small first aid kit.
04
Personal Accessory Items
-
Sunglasses
-
Spare reading and/or prescription glasses
-
Hat (one for sun, one for warmth if visiting a colder climate)
-
Sunscreen (even if just for your face)
-
Watch or device to keep track of time (be sure to have it on the local time, as the ship, train or plane waits for no one, and you don't want to miss it)
-
Binoculars
-
Backpack or small tote bag for going ashore (good for the extra jackets, umbrella, souvenirs or even a snack. Along with the essentials of hand sanitizer, lotion, etc.)
-
Refillable water bottle (empty when going through TSA). It will be nice to use for water or coffee when on and off the ship or out and about!
05
Attire
-
Most of the time casual clothing will be appropriate
-
A light to mid-weight jacket and raincoat will be helpful. I always travel with a raincoat.
-
Formal wear (not required, but often fun for an evening on a cruise ship.)
-
Good walking shoes (waterproof is a bonus) for when you are out and about.
-
Be mindful when visiting religious venues as most require modest attire. Ask me if you have questions.
06
Electronics
-
Cell phone and charging cable with wall plug. Outlet extenders or European adapters are a must.
-
Extension cords and SURGE protectors are strictly forbidden on cruise ships.
-
Camera (if not using your cell phone) and charger with additional SD card and/or battery
-
iPad or laptop w/ chargers. (but leave at home if you can, it's good to disconnect a bit)
07
Patience
-
Everyone is excited and anxious to start their vacation. Don't forget to pack some patience as it will be needed at security checks and other check in-check out situations.
